Student Council & Leadership Opportunities

Senior students at Highview Public School are encouraged to participate in and initiate leadership opportunities at our school. Students in Grade 6-8 can become involved in our Builders Club which develops leadership within the school and our school community. The Builders Club is afiliated with Kiwanis International and sponsored by Kiwanis Club of Pembroke.

Among some of the initiatives undertaken by the Builders Club this year have been the Scare Hunger campaign under the auspices of Save the Children Fund where a total of 465 food items were collected for the St. Joseph's Food Bank.  Operation Christmas Child was undertaken and a total of 43 boxes were filled and directed to Samaritan's Purse. Our students showed true caring in collecting $285.15 for Typhoon Haiyan (Phillipines Disaster Fund) through Unicef

Builders Club organized several spirit and dress up days PJ Day, Sports Day and Christmas (Red/Green) Day, Moustache Day, Wacky Hair Day, Valentines Red, White and Pink Day.  We undertake 4 school dances a year where the money raised is directed to local charities such as PRH MRI Campaign, CHEO and OSPCA.

They learn the value of leadership, character building, caring and inclusiveness. We believe that students become better citizens if engaged in community service.
