Highview Public School, located in the heart of Pembroke, Ontario, has been a proud part of the community for more than a century. Originally opened as East Ward Public School in 1923, the school has grown and evolved alongside the families it serves. A major expansion in 1957 added a gymnasium, library, and additional classrooms - spaces that supported generations of learners. That wing was fully refurbished in 1994-95, during which time students temporarily attended Laurentian Public School.
In September 2005, Highview welcomed the former Laurentian Public School community, bringing both schools together under one roof. Most recently, in Fall 2023, Highview celebrated its 100th anniversary, proudly welcoming alumni, staff, and community members to honour its long history.
Today, Highview is a vibrant and diverse school community with over 400 students and a dedicated team of nearly 50 teaching and support staff. Our Hawks are known for excellence in both athletics and the arts - earning county sports championships and achieving top marks at the Kiwanis Music Festival through our strong music program.
Highview continues to grow and adapt to meet the needs of our learners. In Fall 2024, we expanded our French programming to include Bilingual Kindergarten and Early French Immersion, offering families enhanced pathways in language learning.
Rooted in history and focused on the future, Highview Public School is proud to inspire, support, and celebrate every student who walks through our doors.
